Data for London

Greater London Authority (GLA) is developing a new platform to support secure data sharing between public and private entities. The platform will serve a wide range of users, including borough councils, government agencies, charities, police forces, Greater London Authority teams, the NHS, and others.

The Challenge

The goal is to design a platform capable of managing private and sensitive datasets, while ensuring compliance with a range of legal and security standards. These include Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit, UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Health and Social Care Act 2012, and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, among others.

My Role

As Lead Designer, I was responsible for setting the direction of the early-stage discovery and concept development. My work focused on:

  • Leading research strategy and execution
  • Mapping organisational roles, data flows, and decision chains
  • Facilitating cross-sector workshops
  • Creating ideation and innovation design outputs to synthesise findings
  • Shaping how design thinking was embedded into a complex, policy-driven environment
  • Preparing the next phase of research and design for delivery teams
